Game and local records
Chess does not require a game account. Games run on your device. The current match, undo history, privately revealed identities and remaining assists are held in memory. Preferences, completed challenges and the counts and dates used to schedule review invitations are stored locally. Chess has no developer-operated server and does not upload these records, game positions, screenshots or clips to the developer.
The current version does not integrate Firebase, third-party usage analytics or developer-operated crash reporting. Advertising SDK processing is described separately below. The local Mac version does not load the mobile advertising SDKs. Store purchases are handled by the relevant store.
Advertising and choices
The app uses system region, device environment and Google Play services availability locally to provide applicable ad services. It does not request location access, perform separate IP geolocation lookups or upload this information to the developer.
The mobile app integrates Google AdMob and its User Messaging Platform. Google's advertising services may process IP addresses and approximate location, device and app identifiers, app and advertising interactions, and diagnostic information for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. Available identifiers depend on system permissions and privacy choices. Non-personalized advertising does not mean that no data is processed.
The current version uses Google demo ads, which still connect to Google. Advertising identifiers and privacy choices can be managed in device settings. Privacy choices and this notice will be updated before production advertising is enabled.
Purchases and restoration
Apple App Store or Google Play processes payments. Chess uses store-provided products, transactions and active entitlements to provide and restore paid access and manage subscriptions. Chess does not receive card details or store account passwords. Real purchases are currently disabled. Deleting local app data does not cancel a subscription or remove the store's transaction records.
Screenshots and clips
Only when you request export or sharing does Chess create a local image of the position before king capture or a silent clip of the final action by each side. Save writes directly to Downloads on Mac or Photos/gallery on mobile, with a 2 MB video limit. iOS requests add-only Photos access. Android 10 and later require no gallery read permission; Android 9 and earlier request storage write permission when saving. Chess does not read existing photos or videos. Share opens the system share sheet. It does not record your camera or microphone, select a recipient or send the file automatically. A recipient app handles the file under its own policies. Temporary clip frames are removed after generation; share files are removed at the next app launch. Files you export are not deleted with temporary files. Copies saved by recipient apps remain under their control.
Ratings and reviews
Apple or Google collects reviews through its own interface. Chess stores invitation timing and play counts locally and does not read the rating or review you submit.
Retention and deletion
Preferences and challenge progress remain locally until app data is cleared or the app is removed. Whether system backups retain copies depends on your device settings. Advertising services, stores and recipient apps manage their own records through their privacy and account controls. Uninstalling Chess does not delete information already held by these third parties.
Contact and privacy requests
Contact Chess support at joseph.petzval@gmail.com. The developer receives your email address, message and attachments only when you choose to email them. This information is used to answer your request, handle applicable data rights and meet necessary record-keeping obligations. Do not send passwords, card information or complete purchase credentials. You may request access, correction or deletion of information you have sent to the developer; requests concerning data independently held by Google or Apple must be directed to those providers.
External policies and support links are accessed only when you choose to open them. Your browser, mail app, website host and external services process their network requests under their own policies. This notice does not claim that the developer can delete a store's transaction records on your behalf.
Website
Cloudflare Pages hosts this website. The pages contain no ads, analytics scripts, accounts or forms. Cloudflare processes network requests, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the service. Visiting the website does not upload local games, pictures, videos or progress. Contact the developer about website privacy.
