Chess Proprietary License Notice Effective: October 20, 2026 Copyright (c) 2026 Chess contributors. All rights reserved. Original Chess code, scripts, models, materials, artwork, icons, synthesized sounds, interface text, documentation and original adaptations are proprietary to the extent they are not already subject to a valid prior license. This notice governs new original contributions first distributed under this notice. No permission is granted to redistribute, sublicense or sell that proprietary material, or to use it to produce derivative software, without written consent, except as permitted by applicable law or another applicable license. You may install and use copies of Chess obtained through authorized channels under the applicable Terms of Use and store terms. You may save and share the game images and clips produced by the app's export features for your personal use. Paid access grants the described app features, not ownership of its code, artwork or other protected material. Statutory consumer rights are unaffected. Prior grants remain effective This change does not revoke, withdraw or narrow rights validly granted under Chess's earlier MIT license. Copies and portions previously distributed under that license remain usable under its terms. The earlier notice is preserved in legal/CHESS_LEGACY_MIT.txt and in Git history; this notice does not claim exclusive control over material that is already available under that license. Third-party material Godot, godot-cpp, plugins, fonts and other third-party components retain their own licenses and notices in legal/. Official Lichess puzzle source data remains CC0 1.0. Original Chess selection, presentation, adaptations and new tools do not restrict reuse of that underlying CC0 data. Third-party license permissions and applicable law take precedence for the material to which they apply. Contact: joseph.petzval@gmail.com
